What is the purpose of the Lift for COVID nurses study?
Experiencing a serious stressor like being a frontline nurse in the middle of a pandemic is really challenging. There are stresses about work, family, and what to expect in the future…with no end in sight.
Few programs exist to help healthcare workers manage stress on their own terms. You might expect that there are lots of programs available to help with these issues. Unfortunately, this is not the case. That is why we’ve developed the LIFT program.
The LIFT program is designed especially for people like you. LIFT is a new self-guided treatment program that aims to quickly reduce stress, to improve your quality of life, and to build stronger relationships with people who are important to you. LIFT uses a mobile app to deliver automated yet personalized support to people like yourself.
The purpose of the LIFT for nurses study. The LIFT program could represent a way for many hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers across the country to recover more completely…and faster. But first we have to determine if LIFT works better than usual care in a research study.
What happens in the Lift for COVID nurses study after I have signed up?
The LIFT study is easy. It just takes only 5 minutes a day for just 1 month!
Step 1: If you are interested, you simply download the Pattern Health mobile app from either the Android or Apple app store. The QR codes for these are here:
Step 2: Enter the code NURSE when prompted by the Pattern Health app. Next, you sign an informed consent document in the app if you wish to participate. After you answer a few short surveys, you will be randomly assigned to either LIFT or usual care. The app will tell you which one—and what to expect.
Step 3: If you are randomized to the LIFT group, you use the LIFT app each day at your convenience for 1 month or receive usual care. If you are randomized to usual care, you can still receive access to LIFT after you complete the study. For both groups, after 1 month the app will prompt you to complete the same surveys you did originally. And then you are done!
This is totally confidential! No other Duke employee will know you are participating.
